FYI, this is my 100th post! OK, at least I'm excited about it. It's a mark of perseverance, a statement of dogged determination, a continuation of one fool's exercise in self-expresssion. All of the above, none of the above, take your pick.

At any rate, on to today's announcement. This week, I published at the Kindle Store. The name of my magnum opus is the same as the title of this post: Yahtzee™ For Adults (you can find it here), - and the best part is that you don't need to own a Kindle to read it. There is a free app on iTunes for the iPhone and the iPod Touch, as well as free software to read Kindle books on any Windows personal computer. (the software for Mac is upcoming). You can even download a free sample of the book from its Kindle page.
Yahtzee™ For Adults is a work that has been kicking around in my head for some time. In fact, I wrote a draft of it several years ago. However, it seems that the times are now crying out for the definitive work on the subject. This humorous, grown-up take on a timeless, family classic is a book that needed to be written. Consider it a million dollars worth of fun for less than five bucks!!!
People know Yahtzee™ as a kid's game, and that's the way it's presently sold. As it is commonly presented, there aren't any truly adult aspects to it, just mindless, kiddy fun and games. But Yahtzee™ For Adults takes things to a whole different level.
For instance, in the popular version:
- Are there any hints about how best to position yourself for a game (so that the sun shines into your opponent's eyes)? No.
- Any mention of the Yahtzee™ pantheon, the gods and goddesses that rule each category? No again.
- Is there any glossary of essential terms, such as: the Wallenda, Changing Horses, Fickle Five Anemia, and the Half Dirk? No, no, no, and most assuredly no!
But do not despair, gentle reader. All of these important details and more can be found in Yahtzee™ For Adults.
Look, times are tough. Not only is it winter, and everyone's got cabin fever, but people are also cutting back on expenses and seeking ways to pass the time that are inexpensive, yet fun and challenging. What could be cheaper, I ask you, than five dice and a score sheet? And believe it or not, once you get the adult take on Yahtzee™, you'll be hooked. It's amazing how enjoyable and engrossing a "simple" game like this can be.
But, hey, don't take this humble author's word for it. Visit the Kindle Store and download a free sample of Yahtzee™ For Adults. If it intrigues, fascinates, or even just tickles the funny bone, it would be great if you would download a copy (Only $4.99? This guy is practically giving it away). And please feel free to leave a comment on the book's Kindle page. Oh, and tell your family, friends, and neighbors about it.
